I realised the other day, I've not updated my bio in nearly 3 years. That could be problematic.
Over the past four years, I've maintained myself as a graduate student in mathematics-- much easier than you'd think, to be honest. If you're truly smart, you don't become a grad student. You become a grad student if you're entirely befuddled as to what to do with your life, and think more training will solve the problem. I'm partially there. I think I have enough training at this point to get a real job, but I might as well stick it out another year or two and get that shiny piece of paper with the letters PhD on it, so other people think I'm smart.
And what do I research, being the mathematics person that I am? Immunology. How'd that happen? They said they'd pay me, basically. And if you think reading math papers and math books hurts the head, try reading papers written by idiots OUTSIDE your chosen field. Still trying to resolve that.
Besides that, my life consists of bicycling, going out with friends, renovation projects/working on the house, sci-fi, and manga. It's a nice existence; I like it.
